M-I-A

Hi all!!

I have been MIA for a while. I just haven't had much to blog about. Two weekends ago I got sick and was in bed most of the weekend. Last week I was busy running around like a mad woman. And this past weekend was spent relaxing with some friends in Pacific Grove and I didn't take a single picture!!

I'll be back soon. In the meantime, have a safe and Happy 4th of July!!

Grown Up - Shmown Up

Although being a kid was fun, I couldn't wait to be a grown up. Now I wish I could go back to the simplicity of being a kid.

I have had my taste of independence and although I love being in charge of my own life, I am not loving all the responsibility and stress that comes along with being a grown up.

I guess it's true, you always want what you can't have. Dang it!

I know I am not the only one feeling like they are drowning (whether it be in debt, responsibility, to-do lists, schedules, etc.). So if anyone can give me any sort of insight on how they manage, I am all ears (or should I say eyes).

Weekend Review

My weekend started on Thursday night, and I was busy busy all weekend long!!

Friday my sis and I ran a bunch of errands and did some crafting for my birthday party that was on Saturday night.

Saturday was spent prepping the house (girls) and the food (boys) for the evening festivities. My 30th birthday party was a masquerade theme and we had so much fun.

My sister and I were in charge of the sweets table. We had rice krispy treats dipped in chocolate, cake pops, mask shaped cookies, mini cupcakes, chocolate dipped marshmallows and a small candy bar (rolos, kisses, swedish fish, jelly beans and rock candy). Surprisingly we didn't have too much left over! We also made the sign and the cake stands for the cupcakes (from old plates and candlestick holders we found at the thrift store).

The boys were busy cooking up a storm on Saturday. It is pretty common for our friends to come to our parties and expect some delicious food and the boys delivered, as always. They made bruschetta, tri tip sliders, teryaki chicken satay, mac & cheese won ton crisps, crab stuffed mushrooms and artichoke bites. My mom made a corn salsa dip and my friend made spinach dip. Again, we had very few leftovers!

Me & Mr. Pickle - I painted on my mask (used this tutorial) because I knew I wouldn't end up wearing the mask all night and didn't want to fuss with it.

Sunday we cleaned and rested!

I am in some serious need of sleep, but it was all worth it! I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family in my life.

My sister's camera has some HI-larious photo booth pics that I will have to post when she gets sends them to me.

Birthday Weekend Review

Words can't even express how lucky I feel to have such wonderful friends, family and husband. The last few days of my twenties and first few days of my thirties (gasp) were spent being spoiled by the ones I love and celebrating in style.

Thursday Mr. Pickle and I went out to breakfast and then headed to Napa to do some wine tasting and eat at one of our favorite restaurants in Yountville, Bistro Jeanty.

Ever so famous Tomato Soup

Friday, Mr. Pickle, my sis, my sis' fiance and I went to Sonoma for the day. We discovered a new favorite winery, Westwood. Since it is in the Sonoma Square, we were able to enjoy a picnic lunch at the square before heading to a few more wineries. On the way home, we went to dinner at The Melting Pot. It was my first time there and I was super excited. We STUFFED ourselves!! Very yummy though.

Saturday was supposed to be spent at Tomales Bay, but Mother Nature had other plans because it rained All. Day. Long. Instead we enjoyed the day going to see Hangover 2, hanging out at home, working on a sewing project with my sis while the boys made a fabulous dinner and then rented a movie. It was nice to relax a bit since we have all been super busy.

Sunday I was taken out to brunch to La Note which was delicious. I was told it was just going to be the four of us and my in-laws, but when I showed up, there were a bunch of peeps for a surprise celebration. I was oblivious to everything until I walked in and was so surprised. After brunch, my sis had arranged for the two of us to spend the day at the Claremont Hotel Spa. For those of you who aren't familiar, this was a big treat because the spa is all fancy and upscale. My mom heard what the plan was and decided she had to join us. My sis had me scheduled for a massage first thing and then we were all able to hang out and enjoy their facilities (which are amazing) before we got pedicures and enjoyed a bottle of champagne. After we left the spa, my sis and I went out to dinner and I decided to spend the night at her house to watch movies and work on some crafts. (Mr. Pickle had to leave after brunch to go to Washington DC for work.)

Monday we ran some errands, had sushi with my bestie, walked around the reservoir, worked on some more crafts and got ready for the upcoming work week.

I had a FABULOUS birthday weekend and am so thankful for all those who participated and made it so special (especially Mr. Pickle, my sister and her fiance).

Isn't she a doll!!!

So I turn 30 on Sunday. My sis and hubby have quite an exciting weekend planned to celebrate. I can't figure out if I am excited about turning 30 or bummed. I think I just miss my early 20's of being able to be less responsible and have so much fun. This grown up stuff isn't all it's cracked up to be. However, I am enjoying life in my older age :)
